Alex Albon will make history for Atlassian Williams F1 Team this weekend at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, becoming the driver with the most race starts in the team’s illustrious history.
To mark the occasion, Albono will race in a special-edition helmet paying tribute to Nigel Mansell – the previous record holder. The design is a modern interpretation of Mansell’s iconic 1992 championship-winning helmet, honouring one of Williams’ most celebrated champions.
This weekend marks his 96th Grand Prix start in Williams colours, surpassing the long-standing record previously held by Nigel. It is the latest landmark in a remarkable journey since arriving at the team in 2022, during which Alex has become a central figure in their push back towards the front of the Formula 1 grid.
“It is incredible to think that I've raced for this historic team more often than one of the true greats of the sport,” Alex shared.
“Nigel Mansell was an inspiration to me growing up, a true fighter and a legend for both Williams and Formula 1 as a whole. This achievement is about far more than the number itself. Every Grand Prix start over the last five seasons represents the hard work of the entire team at Grove.
“Through the highs and lows, every race has contributed to the journey Williams has been on. To have my name alongside legendary Williams drivers such as Nigel, Damon Hill, and Ralf Schumacher is a real privilege and a source of immense pride."
Congrats on the achievement, Albono!
