Alex: ‘We will need to be on our A-game’

Alex is feeling confident ahead of this weekend’s Italian GP, but is fully aware of the challenges that await in Monza.

Our Thai racer performed impressively to secure P5 at Circuit Zandvoort last Sunday — and now heads to a venue where he has fared well in the past.

Albono has claimed points on three previous visits to Lombardy, including a P7 with Williams in 2023 and a P9 finish last season.

With positive memories to draw upon, as well as momentum from Round 15, it’s perhaps no surprise that AA23 is in buoyant spirits.

Discussing his upcoming trip to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, he said:

“I’m looking forward to racing in Monza this weekend as part of the next round of the double-header.

“We’re coming off a strong P5 result and heading to another track that should suit our car, plus it’s always been a fun track to drive.”

However, Alex sounded a caution, too, when reflecting on the potential pitfalls that could await in Saturday’s Qualifying:

“There are always tactics and games in Qualifying at this circuit, so we will need to be on our A-game and execute everything cleanly in order to stay ahead of our rivals,” he explained.

“We’ll put our full focus into doing that.”

Albono’s stint in Northern Italy begins with Free Practice 1 at 1.30pm CEST tomorrow (Friday), followed by two further practice sessions, Qualifying and the main event on Sunday — beginning at 3pm local time.
