Despite a disappointing end in Montreal, Alex pulled off a potential overtake of the season when he slipped between Daniel Riccardo and Esteban Ocon.
The swashbuckling move garnered plenty of attention as he put on a display of inch-perfect racing to gain two places up the grid.
So we decided to take a look back on some of Albono’s best passes through the years in Formula 1…
Alex Albon - Daniel Riccardo and Esteban Ocon - 2024 Canadian Grand Prix
Racing at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, running in P11 behind Daniel Ricciardo’s RB and the Alpine of Esteban Ocon, Alex pulled off a superb double move.
On a wet straight, our No23 cut around the outside of Ricciardo before scything up the inside line of Ocon at the chicane to jump to P9 in a matter of seconds.
The touch-tight racing is immediately a contender for overtake of the season as Albono showcased his impeccable technique and daring skill.
Alex Albon - Sergio Perez - 2019 Belgian Grand Prix
From the Île Notre-Dame to the famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps at the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix, Alex made a stunning entrance to his Red Bull tenure.
Starting the race P17, he made a charging effort up the grid, which was capped off by a nail-biting overtake around Sergio Perez on the final Lap 44 to finish P5.
With the Racing Point in his sights Alex breezed through the inside on the Kemmel straight despite being forced onto the grass to overtake Perez.
Alex Albon - Kimi Raikkonen - 2020 British Grand Prix
Onto the 2020 70th anniversary GP, where Alex pulled off a bold move to dupe World Championship winner Kimi Raikkonen.
At Silverstone, he had an intense battle with the Finnish driver as they wrestled for track position, which ended with Albono edging around the outside at Copse.
The daring move was a show of confidence and bravery as he was pushed to the track limits in chase of another position and was rewarded by securing a P8 finish.
Alex Albon - Daniel Riccardo - 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix
The same year in Tuscany Alex had one of his career highs as he finished P3 to step onto the podium for the first time in his Formula 1 career.
Our Thai driver navigated an incident-packed race, eventually leading to the all-important overtake on Lap 51, with Riccardo ahead.
Albono took the slipstream before darting to the outside at the sweeping San Donato left-hander to round the Australian and secure third place.
Alex Albon - Pierre Gasly - 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
Fast-forward to Alex’s time at Williams, and he has displayed even more daring overtakes, best of all at the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Pierre Gasly.
In a textbook move, he locked onto the AlphaTauri driver, reeling him in before a quick cut outside to complete the move into Turn 2.
While Albono didn’t quite make it into the points that day by finishing P11, there were plenty of positives to take, including the impressive pass.
