Alex will be targeting a strong finish to the 2025 season, starting with this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix.
AA23 has enjoyed a campaign to remember, having registered 73 points and secured 11 top-ten finishes — as well as a P6 in the United States GP Sprint.
But Albono’s recent outings have been less productive than his early-season races, so he’ll be keen to break back into the top 10 at Interlagos.
And Saturday’s Sprint offers another opportunity to put points on the board, at what’s shaping up to be an exciting Round 21 in Brazil.

Previous visits to São Paulo

Alex wore a bespoke helmet at the 2022 São Paulo GP, drawing inspiration from both the Brazilian and Thai flags.
Unfortunately he wasn’t able to secure points on that occasion, though, after placing P15 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace.
However, Albono was philosophical when reflecting on the race, saying:
“Our race was OK but we got unlucky with the Safety Car, with everyone in front of us getting a free pit stop, ultimately compromising our whole race.
“We did a good job and in terms of the race, I was happy with how I was driving, and it looked like we were optimising the race.
“I do think we may have made an error with our start tyre as everyone else was on the softs and mediums, but the Safety Car gave us an opportunity to immediately swap to a two-stop medium race.”
That result was one of AA23’s four visits to Brazil to date — but he is still searching for his first top-10 finish in São Paulo.
The hope is that this weekend’s visit will see Alex finally get off the mark at the South American circuit.

Track guide

The Autódromo José Carlos Pace, more commonly known as Interlagos, hosted its first championship event back in 1973 — and has held the São Paulo Grand Prix consistently since 1990.
The venue is renowned for its unpredictable weather and electrifying atmosphere, with Brazil’s passionate fans typically bringing the noise and adding a carnival feel to proceedings.
And the track itself adds to that sense of excitement, thanks to its tantalising mix of technical corners and an undulating layout.
Stretching across 4.309 km (2.677 miles) and with 15 turns, a lap of this circuit begins with the famous Senna ‘S’ — a series of fast downhill corners that require bravery and precision in equal measure.
Next up is a DRS run down to Turn 4, before high-speed turns and elevation changes are the order of the day in Sector 2.
Then it’s a full-throttle uphill charge to complete a lap, with power and traction key requirements in Sector 3.

Stay up to date

The season’s penultimate Sprint means that there will only be one Free Practice session in Brazil. That’s scheduled to take place on Friday at 11.30am local time (BRT).
Then it’s Sprint Qualifying later that day (3.30pm), before the Sprint Race itself on Saturday at 11am.
Qualifying is pencilled in for Saturday at 3pm, prior to the weekend’s main event getting underway at 2pm BRT on Sunday.
