What a day in Miami! Alex closed out another strong weekend with a P5 finish - equaling the Australian GP this year for his best ever finish in a Williams.
Following a great display in yesterday's Sprint Race, Alex's penalty for a Safety Car Infringement resulted in a drop out of the points positions and meant he would be looking to make amends in the Grand Prix.
Starting on the grid in P7, just behind teammate Carlos Sainz, Alex was able to take advantage of a chaotic start - despite making slight contact with the other Williams - as he gained two places to move up to P5.
Following an early VSC, the restart saw Alex drop a couple of places back behind his teammate, but he was able to make a move on Lap 15 to move back into P6.
Making it to Lap 27 on his medium tyres, Alex boxed onto the Hards and came out behind the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli.
A second VSC and a pit lane reshuffle saw Alex move into P6 with Antonelli firmly in his sights. On Lap 31, Albono was able to make a move stick and go past the Mercedes at Turn 1.
Alex was able to maintain position, breaking away from Antonelli's fight with the Ferraris behind to take the chequered flag in P5.
It is Albono's best ever finish in Miami and continues the incredible start to the season he's having. Let's hope for more of the same in Imola in two weeks' time!
