The penultimate round of the 2025 season delivered no points for Alex after finishing just outside the threshold in both the Sprint and Grand Prix.
It was a P10 start and finish in Saturday’s 100km dash, a race that saw very little change of position up and down the order.
In Qualifying for the Grand Prix, an issue with tyre warm up on his final Q2 attempt saw him unable to improve, placing him P15 on the grid – P14 once penalties were applied.
Alex opted for an alternative strategy in the race, and was one of just two drivers to start on the hard compound tyres, setting him up for a racier stint whilst others were forced onto the white-walled rubber during the enforced two-stops.
However an eighth lap Safety Car forced the hands of almost the entire field, as all but two drivers – the McLaren pair – came in for their first tyre switch.
Our Thai racer re-emerged in P13 after that stop, just behind the Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda.
The second stint was defined by a long DRS train that stretched from P17 to P6, meaning any progress was minimal.
At the end of Lap 32, almost the entire field would have to stop again for the final enforced tyre switch.
Alex went onto the mediums for the final stint, and was able to keep the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton safely behind him to the flag.
Positions were gained on Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll as both were forced to stop again, before in the closing stages an issue of Isack Hadjar saw Alex climb to P11.
Alex joined the team celebrations after Carlos' P3 ensured a P5 finish in the Constructors'
"Starting on the hards today, we were planning on trying to benefit from some clean air with those tyres, but the safety car happened early on and we had to pivot strategies," Alex shared.
"Having started on the hards we were out of position and had to finish the race on mediums which wasn’t ideal for our strategy. We maybe didn’t have the pace to get through all the cars in front, but I think we left something on the table as we had a good car today, as Carlos demonstrated as well.
"The team secured P5 in the Constructors’ Championship which is massive - a big, huge well done to everyone on the team as this was a big step forward for us this year and something that we should all be proud of."
