Alex should be in confident spirits ahead of Round 8 of the Formula 1 season.
After all, it’s been a stellar start to the campaign for Albono, who has put in point-scoring performances in six of his seven races to date.
He appears to be on an upward trajectory, too, with consecutive P5 finishes in his last two outings — and will have hopes of building on those successes at the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix.
As our Thai racer bids to add to his current total of 40 points in Monte Carlo, here’s everything you need to know about one of F1’s most iconic locations…

Previous trips to Monaco

Alex has enjoyed previous success at the Circuit de Monaco.
His first F1 visit to the track came back in 2019 with Toro Rosso, during AA23’s maiden season of elite motorsport.
In just his sixth-ever race, Alex qualified in P10 before climbing two places to finish eighth and record a third points haul in just over two months.
Albono’s first couple of visits to Monaco with Williams weren’t quite as productive, but he finally got on the board last year by placing P9 — claiming the team’s first points of 2024 in the process.
“Whilst you’d rather have a slightly more exciting race to win points at, I’m still happy,” said Alex, following that stint in the principality.
“P9 for the team and our first points of the season, which means a lot to us.
“You never want to be pointless, especially for the team's morale, so hopefully this will be a nice kickstart to the season.
“It was a bit frustrating out there as you could see how much pace Yuki [Tsunoda] had but he was managing excessively, so it was a very slow and painful race; I was struggling to stay focused.
“We’ve added small amounts of performance to the car so it’s good to see these upgrades working and that we’re able to stay around a similar pace to our direct competitors.”

Track guide

The Circuit de Monaco is soaked in history, having hosted the Monaco Grand Prix even before Formula 1’s first-ever championship season in 1950.
Since then, it has widely been considered the sport’s crown jewel, thanks to its enticing mix of glamour, tradition and high-quality on-track action.
There are few more prestigious locations than Monte Carlo, of course, and the Circuit de Monaco winds through the city’s sophisticated streets — then past Casino Square and onto the harbourfront.
A total of 19 turns across the 3.337 km (2.074 miles) track demand absolute focus and precision, on account of the venue’s treacherously unforgiving barriers.
With highlights including the Grand Hotel Hairpin (F1’s slowest corner), overtaking opportunities on the Nouvelle Chicane and the tight La Rascasse in Sector 3, expect plenty of excitement at one of Formula 1’s premier destinations.

Alex’s thoughts

"The Monaco Grand Prix is an amazing track to experience in a Formula 1 car and it’s nice to be racing again so soon after Imola," said Alex, when speaking ahead of this weekend's race.
"It was a really strong result to score another P5 and bring the team another points haul.
"We are maximising our weekends and that’s what we’ll be aiming to do again this week.
"Overtaking is notoriously difficult at this track so a strong performance in Qualifying will be vital to give us the best possible chance of points on race day."
