And the 2024 season is officially underway!
Back on track, and doing what he does best, Alex completed a total of 43 laps across a first day of smooth running in Bahrain.
In what proved to be a windy first practice session of the year, Albono completed 17 laps’ running on two sets of medium tyres for the duration of his time on track. Setting a lap time of 1:33.583, he finished the practice in P13, seven-tenths off session leader Daniel Ricciardo.
As the sun set over the Sakhir Desert and the temperature dropped, our Thai racer headed back out under the floodlights for FP2. Starting the session on fresh medium tyres, Alex quickly improved on his FP1 lap time, recording a 1:32.414.
Switching out for two sets of red-trimmed soft Pirellis for the remainder of the practice, Alex continued to progress. He set a best time of 1:31.333 to finish P11 on the leaderboard, having racked up 26 laps in the session.
These were encouraging signs for Albono and represent a big step towards understanding how the car will perform on track in relation to the other teams.
Bring on FP3 and qualifying tomorrow!
