Alex enjoyed a memorable visit to Goodwood back in 2023, as he got behind the wheel of Williams Racing’s famous FW08 for the first time. The car was originally driven by Keke Rosberg, en route to the 1982 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship — Williams’ second-ever F1 triumph.
With his dad Nigel by his side, AA23 seized the opportunity to drive such an iconic piece of motorsport history, after unusually high winds had led to the previous day’s action being cancelled. “[It was] an amazing day as always,” he said, immediately following the event. “Obviously it was a shame that yesterday was cancelled, but it felt like spirits were extra high today. “It was very special to drive the FW08. It took me a while to get used to it! I actually spent half of that run understanding the peak of the engine. “Then, once I discovered it, I could give it a bit more welly afterwards. But, yeah, it was a lot of fun.”
After such an enjoyable day last time around, it is perhaps no surprise that Alex is returning to Goodwood this year. He will be heading to the Festival of Speed this Thursday, to meet his fans and drive the FW08 once again.
