It’s been a sensational start to the season for Alex, after picking up points in four of his five Grands Prix to date.
Our Thai racer set the tone for 2025 right from the off, when he placed P5 at the Australian GP in mid-March — his highest finish for Atlassian Williams Racing and his best-ever Round 1 performance.
Albono had only breached the top ten once before on opening weekend, when he finished P10 at the Bahrain GP with Williams back in 2023.
It was also AA23’s best performance in Melbourne yet, having improved on his P10 at the Albert Park Circuit in 2022.
This year’s successful stint in Australia was immediately followed by a commendable P7 at the Chinese GP — once again, a result that ticked off a couple of personal milestones for Alex.
He had never previously finished higher than P10 in China (with Toro Rosso in 2019), or secured consecutive points hauls in the opening two races of the season.
And the impressive displays continued in Round 3, when Albono put two more points on the board after coming P9 at the Japanese GP.
Though that result couldn’t match his eye-catching P4 in Suzuka with Red Bull Racing in 2019, it was nonetheless another positive performance from the 29-year-old.
It was also his highest ranking in Mie Prefecture with Williams and marked his first trio of consecutive top-tens while driving for the British outfit.
That hot streak ended in Round 4 with a P12 placing in Bahrain, but Alex immediately bounced back by finishing P9 in Saudi Arabia last weekend — his first-ever points at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
Sunday’s result represents yet another high-water mark for AA23 this term. There will surely be plenty more to come, too, as Alex bids to build on his 20 points so far — starting with next month’s Miami Grand Prix.
