Alex’s time in Vegas is over - luck wasn’t on the side of our No.23 this weekend with contact in both qualifying and the race causing an early retirement.
Under the lights on Friday night, Alex set out in his special Vegas FW47 having looked quick all of Thursday.
Heavy rainfall meant qualifying was always going to throw a curveball and after switching from inters to full wets, Alex clipped the outside wall on his final Q1 run which meant a P16 start on Saturday.
Despite starting towards the back of the grid, points still could have been on the cards with Alex’s obvious pace, however a major radio issue would make it an uphill battle from the start.
Following lights out, Alex made some early progress to move into P15, with sights set on the back of Hamilton’s Ferrari on lap 10.
After trailing at the back of a 5 car DRS train, Albono finally got close enough to make a move on lap 15. When attempting to send it up the inside of the Ferrari, Alex made contact resulting in damage to his front wing, which ultimately needed replacing.
Alex’s luck went from bad to worse as he returned to the back of the grid with a 5 second time penalty for causing the collision. Despite this, Alex was still showing some pace, setting the fastest lap of the race and overtaking Colapinto.
After serving his time penalty, Alex was facing a difficult second half of the race and the decision was made on lap 37 to retire the car.
A tough time in Nevada for our No.23. Alex and the team will no doubt debrief on where to improve and be ready to go again in Qatar for the penultimate race of 2025.

"It was a messy race today, so it’s very disappointing to come away with no points from this weekend," Alex shared post-race.
"We didn’t have radio communication at any point in the race, so we had to go old-school with using pit boards for all comms which compromised our race from the start.
"We sustained damage at the beginning of the race but due to the lack of radio, it was a big risk to not know if the car was safe to drive or have any information on flags, safety cars, or debris.
"It’s an opportunity missed this weekend when we’ve had strong pace on this track. Ultimately, it wasn’t our day, but that’s racing."
