There's so much more to a Grand Prix weekend than just the Formula 1 action, and this year you'll spot two more Thai talents climbing the ladder – both chasing the same dream that Alex Albon turned into reality.
Both Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi are flying the flag for Thailand in Formula 2 and Formula 3, respectively. So if you’re trackside rooting for Alex, or simply cheering along from home, there’s every reason to get behind all three.
Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak
Formula 2 – ART Grand Prix
Born in Bangkok in 2005, Tasanapol’s rise through the ranks has been steady, and lately, seriously impressive.
After honing his craft in karting, he made the jump to single-seaters in 2021, taking on both UAE and British F4 championships.
A move into Spanish F4 followed, before a strong step forward in Eurocup-3 where he finished sixth overall. His first taste of Formula 3 in 2024 proved a tougher campaign, but a switch to Campos Racing for 2025 unlocked a new level.
Three victories from the 19 races saw him end the season P7 in the standings and firmly on the radar.
Now, in 2026, he steps up into Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix – a team that might be familiar to long-term Alex fans, given their shared history together on the way up.
And just like many Thai fans, Tasanapol grew up watching Alex’s journey unfold, as he spoke about in a 2024 interview:
“My racing hero would have to be Alex Albon. When I was growing up and I started racing, he was doing GP3 and F2 and I was early in karting, so watching him grow as a driver and progress in his career was really good to watch.
“Obviously now he is in F1 and he is Thai, so I support him, and he is my racing idol.”
Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi
Formula 3 – DAMS Lucas Oil
A year younger and also born in Bangkok, Nandhavud represents the next wave of Thai talent making its way onto the international stage.
His single-seater journey began in 2022, juggling multiple Formula 4 championships across the UAE and Europe.
From there, he progressed into the highly competitive Formula Regional European Championship, spending two seasons refining his racecraft against some of the best young drivers in the world.
Now, in 2026, he takes the next big step into Formula 3 with DAMS Lucas Oil, another team with links to Alex’s own path through the junior ranks.
It’s a season that marks a fresh chapter, and one that puts him on the same weekend stage as both Tasanapol and Alex for the first time
One flag, three drivers
From Formula 3 to Formula 1, Thai representation across a Grand Prix weekend has never looked stronger. Next time you’re trackside, keep an eye on the support series because alongside Alex, the future of Thai motorsport is already taking shape.
