Al-bon Appétit is Alex’s new series, taking fans beyond the paddock and into local restaurants found in the locations across the Formula 1 calendar. Joined by his fiancé Lily, the pair try some of the most popular and iconic dishes each destination has to offer, followed by their honest opinions and rankings along the way.
Episodes so far:
1. Montreal, Canada - Schwartz’s Deli
Filmed before the Canadian Grand Prix, Alex and Lily headed to try two signature dishes: poutine and a smoked meat sandwich. Both were impressed with their meals, with Alex’s food envy kicking in enough for him to steal Lily’s. Despite the dishes not being your typical pre-race feed, they still ranked the deli highly, earning it a strong starting rating.
2. Barcelona, Spain - Los Caracoles
This episode saw Alex and Lily visiting a historic restaurant that has been serving customers for over a century. This culinary adventure featured a range of Catalan and Spanish tapas, including but not limited to: Iberian ham, garlic shrimp, octopus with bacon and potatoes, the restaurants signature snails and a Catalan creme brûlée. They were particularly impressed with the octopus dish, naming it their favourite. By the end of the episode, Barcelona places P1 in the rankings, demoting Canada.
