Alex will be looking to recapture the spirit of his first stateside race this season, when he heads to Nevada for the Las Vegas GP.
AA23 finished P5 in Miami back in May to record a fifth points haul of 2025, in a strong opening run of races for Atlassian Williams Racing.
Matching those returns has been a little more difficult of late, but our Thai racer can nonetheless harbour hopes of returning to the top 10 in the ‘City of Lights’.
After all, he was only milliseconds from doing so at the São Paulo Grand Prix earlier this month, so should be confident of improving on that display when Round 22 gets underway.

Previous visits to Las Vegas

The Las Vegas GP is a relatively recent addition to Formula 1’s calendar, and Alex’s best performance in Sin City coincided with the event’s inaugural race.
Albono placed just outside the points on that occasion in 2023, with a P12 finish at the Las Vegas Street Circuit.
The weekend began in impressive fashion as Alex put in a sublime Qualifying performance to start fifth on the grid the following day.
But he struggled with a combination of graining and the timing of a Safety Car to ultimately fall down the order.
“I suffered quite badly from graining today,” Alex explained after the race. “It was difficult for us and the Safety Car didn’t help, with most getting a pitstop with little consequence.
“It’s one of those races that we’ll need to review after as I thought we were managing quite well but after the Safety Car in the middle of the race, I was racing everyone on old tyres.
“I could just about manage my own race, but I had to push a bit more and it creates this cycle which is difficult to manage.
“There are some positives to take from this weekend, so it’s not all bad but obviously a bit frustrating to walk away without points.”
AA23 will hope to make amends for that outcome when he returns to Las Vegas in a few days’ time.

Track guide

The Las Vegas Street Circuit is F1’s newest track, but compensates for its youth with a truly spectacular backdrop.
Set against the world-famous Strip and navigating a host of the city’s iconic locations, it’s a venue that screams glamour — as you may expect, given Las Vegas’ reputation.
There’s plenty to like about the track, too. Stretching across 6.201 km (3.853 miles) and containing 17 turns, this high-speed circuit features long straights and tight corners that should ensure plenty of excitement.
Look out for the primary overtaking spots ahead of Turn 5 and at Turn 14, as well as the eye-catching drive past the Las Vegas Sphere in Sector 2.

Keep up to date

The Las Vegas GP is a night race, which means some later start times this weekend.
Free Practice 1 begins at 4.30pm PST on Friday, followed by FP2 at 8pm. Then it’s FP3 and Quali on Saturday, starting at 4.30pm and 8pm, respectively.
Finally, the Las Vegas GP itself gets underway at 8pm PST on Sunday.
