It was a long wait for the drivers in São Paulo, with heavy rain and standing water causing multiple delays before qualifying could get underway. When the action finally resumed, Alex made the most of the tricky conditions, progressing through Q1 and Q2 as the track gradually began to dry.
A strong final sector in Q2 helped Alex secure his place in the top 10 before a crash for Rafael Camara at Turn 12 brought out the red flag. This marked Alex's first appearance in Q3 since Spa in 2025!
With the rain continuing to come and go, the final part of qualifying remained unpredictable. Alex headed out on intermediate tyres and set an initial lap of 1:30.456, putting him P6 at the time. He made another attempt as the rain intensified, but aborted his lap and returned to the pits.
Alex ultimately ended the session in P10, although his starting position remains provisional with several drivers ahead facing potential penalties. It was a fantastic result for Alex, marking his first Q3 appearance since Spa 2025 and giving the team plenty to celebrate ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix.
