Alex excited for 'Texas energy' at United States GP

Find out what Albono had to say ahead of his upcoming stint at Circuit of the Americas

Alex is looking forward to experiencing the ‘Texas energy’ when he heads to Austin for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.

Our Thai racer has enjoyed success at Circuit of the Americas in the past, having placed P5 there during his maiden F1 season with Red Bull in 2019 — as well as claiming a P9 finish in 2023 with Atlassian Williams Racing.

But it’s not just on-track performances that conjure fond memories for Albono, who enjoyed the city’s broader appeal during his previous visits to ATX.

“Austin is a special place and somewhere that I always enjoy visiting,” he explained.

“Not only is the food always good, but the city is great and the fans definitely bring the Texas energy.”

That passion is sure to be in plentiful supply when Round 19 gets underway, with the campaign’s latest Sprint race adding another layer of intrigue to proceedings.

And Alex is conscious that the team will need to make a fast start to the race weekend, without the usual trio of practice sessions to get to grips with the venue.

“It’s the return of the Sprint format this weekend, so we’ll need to get up to speed quickly with only one practice session,” he said.

“It is a challenging and fun track, and it looks to be very hot this weekend — but it is a track that offers overtaking opportunities and has a great flow to it, so anything can happen.”

Free Practice 1 starts on Friday at 12.30pm local time (CDT), before Sprint Qualifying later that day (4.30pm) and the Sprint itself on Saturday (12pm).

Qualifying takes place on Saturday, too (4pm), ahead of the main event at 2pm CDT on Sunday.
