Alex Albon leaves Spa-Francorchamps with eight more points to his name after a composed and confident drive in drying conditions around one of F1’s most iconic circuits.
Following a challenging Sprint on Saturday, Alex bounced back by securing P5 on the grid for Sunday’s full-length Grand Prix.
But when he pulled back the curtains on race day, he was greeted by grey skies and rain.
Conditions worsened just as the formation lap began, prompting a delay to the start as the grid waited for the weather to improve.
Roughly 80 minutes later, the race finally got underway – initially behind the Safety Car for four laps before the green flag was waved.

It was a clean getaway for our No. 23, but a few tours later he was overtaken by good mate George Russell.
That said, the Mercedes never pulled far ahead, with Alex settling into the opening stint on Intermediate tyres and managing the conditions with precision.
As the track rapidly dried, it became a matter of when – not if – he would switch to slicks. That question was answered on Lap 13, as Alex boxed for Mediums.
The timing was spot on, allowing him to maintain position and stay ahead of a charging Lewis Hamilton, who had made the same switch one lap earlier.
And that’s how the order stayed: Russell from Alex, from Hamilton. But leaving it at that would undersell the strength of Alex’s drive.
Despite constant pressure from the seven-time champion in his mirrors, Alex held firm – keeping the Ferrari behind for the remainder of the race.
Up ahead, Russell only began to edge away in the closing stages, and the gap stood at just five seconds at the chequered flag.
P6 marks Alex’s best result since Imola, and his ninth points finish of the 2025 season.
"I’m really happy," Alex reacted. "We’re top of the midfield so that’s always nice and I managed to hold off Lewis, which is never easy. I struggled a little bit in the rain, which is to be expected, so I lost that position to George early on but after that, we settled in and were able to maintain position and finish strong.
"It was important to not make mistakes with Lewis behind, but I think his downforce worked in our favour. As a team we did a great job as it’s not easy beating those top teams, so it’s good to see our package is working well."
