Alex heads to Mexico City for Round 20 of the 2025 Formula 1 season following a mixed weekend in Austin. He picked up three valuable points with a P6 finish in the Sprint, but an early qualifying error left him on the back foot for Sunday’s race.
Despite the setback, Alex battled hard to a P14 finish in a Grand Prix that saw very little attrition and just one retirement.
Remaining in P8 in the Drivers’ Championship, now with 73 points to his name, Albono will be aiming to add to that tally this weekend at a track he has scored at before.
Previous visits to Mexico City
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez has delivered both highs and lows for Alex over the years.
He’s scored points on two of his four previous visits to the Mexican capital – including a P5 in 2019 and a hard-fought P9 in 2023 after gaining five positions from his grid slot.
2022 saw a solid P12 finish in the FW44, while 2024 brought frustration: a collision in FP1 hampered the weekend’s running, and a first-corner pinch on race day ended his outing before it had really begun.
Now, Alex returns aiming to make amends and add another points finish to his tally at one of F1’s most unique venues.

Track Guide
There’s no place quite like the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. At 4.304 km (2.674 miles) long, this 17-turn circuit sits over 2,200 metres above sea level, making it the highest-altitude race on the Formula 1 calendar.
That thin air doesn’t just test engines and brakes – it challenges the drivers, too. Cooling efficiency drops, downforce levels dip and every lap is a test of endurance for both man and machine.
The lap begins with an opening sector all about speed, featuring two DRS zones that create prime overtaking opportunities. Sector 2 slows things down, winding through a technical mix of low and medium-speed corners before drivers enter one of the most recognisable sights in the sport – the Foro Sol.
Sector 3 guides drivers through the grandstands and carnival atmosphere, back onto the main straight.
